Training

I've been wanting to build a circle rut for a while now to help teach people to ride ruts and just because it looks like a lot of fun. With the help of hirepool we got into it over christmas and made it happen. Its a lot of fun and makes you learn a lot very quickly, it also makes you pretty dizzy!

Just a week after we got back from Canada my parents arrived, so that's why we have been a bit quiet here! We shot up to Nelspruit for a couple of coaching days - thanks to the Hyde's for helping with the organisation and the de Beer family for making it so welcoming. 

Then we took my folks to Kruger Park for two days - they really enjoyed it and were impressed by how smart Mon and I sounded when talking about animals ... who knows how much we knew vs made up ... 

The last week I have been at the Whistler mountain bike park getting in some down hilling. I used to do lots of DH back in the day but had to give it away due to a lack of funds. The park is insane, two hundred kilometers of dh trails!

We have had huge snow at our South African home, well huge by African standards. A lot of the roads have been closed and we have had no power for the last few days. I did the only logical thing and fired up the 300.

We just had another good weekend up in Johannesburg doing a couple of enduro schools. It was pretty good times but due to the long dry winter and a recent velt fire it was mega dusty. Everyone seemed to have a good time and learnt some new skills and tricks!

Did some coaching and riding down in Cape Town this week, it was pretty fun, apart from the weather ... Really enjoyed playing in the sand, not so much digging myself out!

We spent 3 nights in Ramabanta over the weekend with the Kiwi's - everyone had an awesome time, few niggling injuries were received (niggling like crippled knees, cracked ribs etc, nothing too bad for these tough Southerner's ...) Staying at the Trading Post in Ramabanta was great, food was super, weather was amazing, can't wait to go back!

Did 'Bulwer and Back' with the Kiwi's when they arrived - nice little introduction to the rides ahead! Stayed at Nip Inn in Bulwer, very hospitable but cold in the cabins this time of year !!
